Who am i online?

Posted on May 6th, 2007 by woepwoep : Deconstruction of Attention woepwoep
The great thing about the internet in general, and social networking in particular, is that
once you're on the digital superhighway,
there is no human body involved.

Only at the exits - keyboard/fingers , screen/eyes , speakers/ears - there is some body.
On the internet there is no body.

Is there a "some body" writing this blog? And how would you know?
What if the online body is built up of attention?

We had a discussion this morning at IIW2005 about attention data and identity. It's clear that attention data is founded on identity, it's less clear that attention data is identity in the sense of "digital identity" as it's commonly defined as a collection of attributes, preferences, and traits.

What if the same is true offline ?
What if you are where your attention is?
Then who are you?
Could it be that you ARE your attention ?

It appears to me that once again, technology provides us with a mirror - the online identity - to trigger the fundamental questions of mankind to yet another dimension.

Best regards, Ron
